Old Windows On New PC

Go to solution Solved by amintha1992,

i was asking in my 1st question that if my windows disk has one use how do i put it on another pc if i dont need my old PC, however i dont mind buying a new OS due to student discount. And How is the build above^

ok.

this is a descant gaming system. the only thing i am concerned is that the CPU might be borderline bottlenecking the GPU. if you have the budget move up to a FX6300 this way you are sure that the CPU is fast

About the HDD and SSD

becasue the SSD is only 32GB only thing  that you can install is the OS and some small apps. not many games though.

so either get the 250GB hard disk from your old pc and use it for data and programs or get a bigger SSD (minimum 120GB) and get a bigger HDD later on. this way you have best of the both worlds.

since you are not doing anything intensive on this machine you are better off getting the biggest capacity you can buy from the latest gen SSDs.

and dont spend too much on RAM just get some Generic Kingston or corsair RAM. go with 1600mhz

Chances are you can just take your COA with the product key and install Vista on the new machine.

But..

If you are building a new machine I would highly recommend to spend the $100 to pick up Windows 7.

don't bother with vista.

get the windows 8.1,

if you think you are not going to like the new UI, think again.

use it for a while and you will learn how easy it is to use. (i have 8 on my desktop with out any mods and 8.1 on my laptop and loving them both).

I have windows 8 on my everyday use laptop, i like it but, i miss some stuff about windows 7. Also hos this for a really budget build that ill upgrade as i need to. AMD FX 4130 on a GIGABYTE GA-78LMT-USB3. For the RAM 4gb of crucial ballistix smart tracer. The gpu will be an asus 7790 1gb OC. and a 32 gb sandisk ssd for booting windows. and i can rip my 250gb hdd out my old pc for storage. for the PSU a corsair 430m.

You simply re-install.  When it asks you to activate, you may phone activate and explain that you performed a "motherboard repair".  They will help you activate your copy.  The copy of Vista is technically tied to the system as soon as you install it.  HOWEVER, I'm not sure that Vista is even supported anymore so the activation pathway might be dead.

You're better off going with Windows 7 anyways.
