So I bought a hair dryer today

I really don't need it because my hair is super short, but I looked at it pulls over 1500W's!!!!  That's more than 3 times what my PC can put out!!!  Holy mother, I should just fold @ home and run a pipe from my evo 212 on full LOL!!!!

No idea, Even my lowest setting is 450.

Heating (or removing heat) things up requires a lot of energy. An iron, hair dryer, boiler all require massive amounts of power

Heating (or removing heat) things up requires a lot of energy. An iron, hair dryer, boiler all require massive amounts of power

I can turn the fans on my video card to 20%, play Crysis 3 and generate about 200*F of heat :)

Yes, and massive inefficiencies in the way things are heated. But all heating appliances are crazy power hungry.

But that's not how hot the air is. An air dryer moves a lot of air and maintains that air at a high temperature, the air your pc exhausts is warmish at best.

on a glass-half-full note, you can use that hair dryer to inflate a blow-up mattress, so at least it has more than 1 purpose.
