Hello,

I recently got myself some new ram for my PC. However, when I attempted to boot into windows I kept getting constant crashing. It would load for a bit and then the whole computer restarted. One time it showed a BSOD with the message SECURITY_KENNEL_CHECK_FAILIURE. I also tried booting into Ubuntu off of a USB. No luck their either.

I should also mention that in the Bios the ram shows up fine and I even tried resetting the BIOS.

Any Ideas?

System specifications;

CPU:Intel core i3 550

Motherboard" Intel DH55PJ

Ram: 4GB Patriot 1033Mhz memory ( I am trying to install Kingston Hyper Fury X ddr3 1600 8GB.)

GPU:Nvidia GTX 960

You do know the i3 550 doesn't support 1600 memory right? Just wanted to put that there first. Although that shouldn't be the issue because it should just run the memory and the lowest clock speed it can.

Ummm... Does it work fine when you take the new memory out and put the old memory in?

Also, Kernel Security Check Failure is generally an issue with drivers that are incompatible with Windows so you may need to look into that. It's weird that it just started doing it with the new RAM though.

The ram is underclocked to 1333Mhz in the Bios

I cannot change that in the settings

And yes the old ram is working just fine

Is it a 2x4GB kit or a single 8GB stick ?

If it's a single 8GB stick, it might be because your PC(motherboard) doesn't support high density/capacity modules, for they didn't exist at the time and/or due to limitation of the chipset (built in the CPU I think now?)

You could try updating the BIOS to the latest version, see if that works, but if not, then it probably never will. It's mostly a game of chance when buying RAM for an older computer these days, for most manufacturer do not tell you if they are high or low, density modules. Your best bet is reading lots and lots of reviews. Or return it and get a 2x4GB kit instead, as that is almost guaranteed to work according to your specs.

If it's a 2x4GB, have you tried with just a single stick at a time and in different ram slots?

CPU: AMD Ryzen 3700x / GPU: Asus Radeon RX 6750XT OC 12GB RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x16GB DDR4-3200
MOBO: MSI B450m Gaming Plus NVME: Corsair MP510 240GB / Case: TT Core v21 PSU: Seasonic 750W / OS: Bazzite

I dont know exactly what you mean by density
