Gameplay recording tips

Mr.Dingle

As the title says , i could use some tips on how to record gameplay .

Now , i have tried out fraps , bandicam and the likes , and either its a problem of huge file sizes ( Fraps ) or poor video quality ( bandicam) etc...

Then  i noticed the Plays.TV app , ( i guess AMDs shadowplay ? ) and for the most part it works . Now i have strange issues :

As you can see , this is a screenshot from Adobe Premiere CC , which along with the windows video player show me something :

Even tho i have the Plays.TV set at 1080p , 60FPS 50Mbit/s , and i keep more than 60FPS in the games i record ( Battlefront in this instance ) , it reports the video framerate as 56 or 56,66 in Adobe . The same happens when i try to record in 30FPS , it does say 30FPS but the video is out of sync with the audio and its choppy.

Is this an issue in setting up something ? Or that my pc is just not powerful enough ?

Well , two issues :

1. Is there a way to change the otuput file type ? currently it is .flv

2. I guess it has to do with the settings but once i turn on OBS the FPS tanks like a boss .. from 110 ish to barely 60 ..

Try a different codec

Do you have a Nvidia card or AMD?

R9 390 . I have three codec options : H.264 , Quick sync and Nvidia NVENC .

I have tried to record now , and it does show 60FPS video , but it has big stutters somehow ..

Did find a way to put it as mp4 tho .

If you change the File Path or simply Click Browse it will show "save as mp4"

Yes i figured that out , but ty anyways .

did find the cause of the issue for lagg : H.264 is done by CPU .. so i searched around a bit and downloaded OBS with AMD library , so it is actually done by the GPU ..

Il try to record some gameplay , il upload it ... i dont know is this any good xD

Microstutter is normal in most cases every once and a while simply because it's not completely optimized 100%.

You won't drop frames unless you're livestreaming.

It looks good to me.

instead of using open broadcaster software, use the new version called open broadcaster studio. That one has all the AMD stuff build in and works much better (at least it does for me)

I have no signature
