Buy used 290

Theres a guy selling me 2 290s at 180$ each. The thing is. They are about 2 years old and were used for 3D modeling. Would it be ok to vuy it? And if ok, what price is good ( taking in consideration polaris and pascal are coming)

I bought mine for $50 bucks, but then again it had died before and i had to price accordingly due to my labour i put in to fixing it. The others i saw second hand sold for $200 bucks, and new - $400. Then again - these are prices converted from the South African rand, so decide accordingly

Newegg had Sapphire Reference brand new on neweggflash for $180 back in november 2015.

Why not just get a 1070 for $379?

290's are fetching a premium right now. 3d modeling isn't going to hurt the cards. it's up to you if you have a special want for them. or run an operating system that newer performance cards won't work on. see if you can get them cheaper.

I wouldn't pick up an aftermarket 290 for any more than $150. It's an older card and the new Pascal cards are much faster. I got my MSI 290 for $143 way before Pascal launched.
