Good Laptop for school/gaming?

I was looking for a laptop that is small and portable enough for school, while still able to run games like CSGO smoothly. I also do editing in Premiere and After Effects. I came across this one http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/ideapad/y700-series/y700-14-inch/#SYSTEM and it was the best I could find in the price range. If you have any other suggests let me know. Otherwise I think I will go with this.

RIG: CPU: i5 6600k @4.8GHz 1.34v  CPU Cooler: H100i  Motherboard: Asus Z170-AR  RAM: Corsair Vengence LPX 2400 (2x8GB)

HDD: Seagate Baracuda 2TB  SSD: Samsung 850 Evo 500GB/PNY 240GB  GPU: Gigabyte G1 Gaming GTX 970  PSU: EVGA G2 650W

Please use PcPartPicker, and paste the "BB" code when posting your build!

For 700$, the Y700 is a fantastic option.

You can get the Y50-70 for dirt cheap off Ebay. But I agree, if you can grab the latest Lenovo gaming machine, the Y700 is a great machine. Heck, if you could possibly swing the extra $100 by any means necessary, this is what I got and I'm lovin' it. Sorry McDonald's, totes stole your slogan. <.<

The Y700 is actually a better option than the 7559 - 7559 is indeed great but only because of the lower price tag of 150-200$ usually. For the same price, Y700, G552 and GE62 beat it but that's to be expected as those are meant to compete with lower end Alienwares.

I... am unfortunately going to fully disagree with that notion. The link provided definitely shows otherwise. That's an Amazon special exclusive, not a run-of-the-mill typical loadout gaming machine either. Full SSD with a free slot for another drive ready to rock, etc, etc... most other machines have to tack on another $150 just to add the SSD and most of the time it's half the capacity at 128GB.

Quick edit too. The R9 M375 barely registers above a GT 940M. That's a HUGE loss in performance compared to something like the GTX 960M, which sits at least 70% faster in every possible benchmark and game. For $100 more, you would get a gaming machine that's better in every conceivable manner, if you compared it to the Y700 in question here.

Who's talking about a R9 M375? I'm taking about the 15' Y700.

Furthermore, the keyboard on the Y700 is vastly superior, the JBL speakers + subwoofer offer much better audio quality and finally, the screen and overall build are also better. Dell is entirely plastic whereas Y700 is almost entirely metal. The Contrast levels on the Lenovo are also much better. Again, 15' vs 15'

He didn't link the 15" Y700! The 14" Y700 was the only one going for $699.
