Okay you can get 2 or more monitors with that easily!
HDMI/VGA/DVI are kinda like USB ports but they send the monitor the data it needs to display all the pictures and video your games/computer will spit out! The difference between them is covered in this FAP.

Hello all, how can I know how many monitors I can hook up to my PC. I haven't made it, I'm asking in advance. Also when connecting a monitor do I have to connect it with my GPU? I'm sorta confused, lemme know if you need anymore details. Also what do all the VGA or HDMI ports mean? And what specs will I need to run two monitors, one for gaming and the other for some other shit. And finally if I have a 60hz refresh rates does that mean I can't go higher than 60fps?

To start with yes you need to connect it to your GPU.
As far as how many monitors you can use it depends on your GPU.
What GPU are you planning to get?

More dependent on GPU. Generally you can use most GPU for two and an i5 is good for gaming.

And say if I connect the two monitors what Will the end result be? Will the pictures be stretched out over the two monitors? I do not want that. What I want is one monitor for gaming and another monitor of to the left for other stuff whilst I'm gaming and for productivity.

Nope!

They'll act as separate monitors.
If you wanted them to act like one monitor you would need special software.

So does having a 60hz refresh rate monitor lock you to 60fps?

Depends on what you mean by "lock you into".
It won't guarantee that you get 60fps but, it will limit your fps to 60.
So if you want to play games at over 60fps you'll need a monitor with a higher refresh rate like 144hz or 120hz.
