Hi all long time lurker, first time poster.

I would like to downsize to an itx build and put the system in a Fractal Design S Nano with a custom watercooling loop.

Currently right now I have the following specs:

Intel Core i7-4770K
Asus Maximus VI Gene
PNY Geforce GTX 970
Samsung 850 EVO 120GB
G.Skill 8GB DDR3-1600
WD VelociRaptor 500GB
Corsair AX850 80+ Gold
NZXT S340

I have been debating if I should try and find a Z97 itx board that supports my 4770K, or upgrade the motherboard, CPU and RAM to Skylake, wait till Kaby Lake or even wait till Cannonlake?

If I try and find a Z97 board I would ideally like to find an EVGA Stinger but I can't find any in stock anywhere.

Thanks.

i would just get a Z97 board because the system is good, not worth upgrading to skylake IMO

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Thanks,

This is really all that I am finding available for new boards through PC Part Picker.

MSI z97i ac
Gigabyte GA-Z97N-WIFI

I am not too sure how well these will overclock. Both boards look like they don't have very good power delivery.

I am thinking that the Z97 boards are going to be harder to find new.

Just get an Asus ROG Impact board

I need the Z97 version as I have a 4770K. I don't think the little increase in performance  is worth upgrading to Skylake  which means new CPU and new RAM..
