I'm not really sure if this is the best subfourm to post this but a friend of mine is having some problems with his laptop. He has recently changed his Microsoft password and thought nothing of it but then the next time he turned on his laptop instead of asking for his usual pin to unlock his pc, it instead asked for a password. This should be his microsoft password however, when he tried to type it in, it told him it was incorrect and the old microsoft account password doesn't work either. I had a look and the problem seems to be that the laptop itself is not connected to the internet and on the icon has an x next to to ethernet symbol. I tried to connect to my wifi but it told me it couldn't connect but if you go into the list of networks it says connected but the icon still has the x and a ethernet symbol instead of a wifi symbol. What can I do about this? I have already been to microsoft technical support but they couldn't solve it so I decided to post it on the more technically-minded linus tech tips forums :)
