Handbrake DVD rip

So I'm not well versed in Handbrake, I've copied some DVD's I have but they only look "okay" and not the same as they would if I just played them off the disc, any tips for higher quality? I've tried slow passes and it still doesn't look that good.

Personally I run makemkv to get data off the disc. Then I run handbrake to shrink file size. DVDs are 4-6GB blu rays are 30-50GB I have found. Thats before handbrake.

Easy way is to play around with scale that has 20 as default value. Higher means better quality.
