Hey guys, my friend has an old computer which he wants to repair, but I think the mobo is dead. Could anyone confirm this?

Those caps are long gone - I'd throw it away before they blow. When a cap blows, it can make a hole in a metal case. Definitely dangerous

I'd have just replaced the caps. I restore computers on an every day basis and I can tell you that replacing caps is one of the easiest things to do.

it's not as dangerous as people say lol. it can pop sure. but you need to put a current through it for it to blow something and after it's been replaced there's no need to worry. just don't power it the way it is.

Yes, it is dangerous, but it's never going to explode. There is a tiny bit of acid in there that would dissolve metal, but not nearly enough to make a hole through a PC case.
