Hey hey heyyyy.

So my friend asked me to "build" him a PC worth 2000$. I'm not "well-versed" when it comes to expensive rigs so I'm asking you guys for help.

In my case, I want to give him a plug-n-play build (no overclocking whatsoever as he does not want to learn overclocking)

So far I'm only sure about the GPU, which would be a Gigabyte 980Ti Extreme (Windforce 3x)

EDIT: PCPP UNDER CONSTRUCTION BRB got lazy....

Update: I give you, current state of the build.

CPU Intel i7-6700 Locked since he no OC
CPU Cooler Scythe Big Shuriken 2 Rev. B Best Low-Profile that would fit
MoBo Gigabyte H170N-WiFi Only other choice was an ASUS, this is better in terms of features
Memory G.Skill 2x16GB RipjawsV 2400Mhz (Red) Only other choice were TridentZs, which were 50% more expensive
SSD Samsung 850 EVO M.2 250GB Didn't think much here.
HDD WD 2.5" Scorpio Blue 1TB Only 2.5" would fit, so not much choice or options available
GPU Gigabyte GTX 980Ti G1 Gaming The Xtreme edition won't fit
Case Silverstone Milo ML08 Because "portable"
PSU Silverstone SX600-G SFX PSU No choice

Thoughts? This is about 1800$ now. I think most of the parts are "worth it" except the Case and PSU.

Why no overclocking? You could dial in a conservative overclock for him that you could verify to be completely stable.

Sig under construction.

but I'm lazy. ahahahaha.

ok point taken. Z-board + i7-6700k it is.

I'm probably going with a Z170 Sabertooth.

Slightly offtopic: how to link pcpartpicker to a post?

Not offtopic! And you mean the other way round?

Use the BBCode export button:

Then just paste it in.

actually nevermind, using pcpartpicker won't be accurate anyways as we have weird pricing here in my country.

I'll use google docs instead.

Or you could put the parts in on PCPP but set custom prices, right?

Since your friend isn't overclocking, there really is no point in going with a K-series CPU, but i'll add it in just in case you'd like to tinker a little down the track. Also you can build a good PC for less than 2000 easily. The parts I chose are based on the fact that they are known to be good and reliable, as well as fit the look.

I am not convinced that the Gigabyte G1 will fit either. The gpu height (Width) limit on that case is stated as 4.78" which is 121.41mm. The Gigabyte card is 120mm but you still need room to plug the pcie cables in.

Does the case have to be that particular case ?

Cryorig is not available in this country. I've read some benchmarks that the Big Shuriken is simply better than the L9i 'coz it's "bigger"

I think if they advise a width limit of 4.78", that's already considering the PCI-E cables.

See this: PROOF!
