I'm looking at the Asus z170-A and the Asus Maximus Hero VIII, and I see that the Hero doesn't have VGA or DVI ports. Why doesn't it have it if it's $100 more expensive than the z170-A? Will this hinder my plans to have a dual screen set up? Don't I need 2 HDMI ports or 2 of whatever ports on the PC to connect it to 2 monitors?

The ASUS board is higher end and I guess expects nobody who want to use it to want to be touching their integrated graphics.

For your question, if you're using a graphics card you won't want to be using any of the display outputs on the motherboard, because you'll want them to go through the card.

Sig under construction.

So since my graphics card, gtx 970, has multiple hdmi ports, I can plug my 2 monitors to those and it'll sync them and work as a dual monitor setup?

It won't 'sync' them, whatever you're meaning by that, but yes, you should be able to use it as a dual monitor setup just fine.

im using the gtx 970 and im powering my TV through the iGPU

because my gpu only has 1 HDMI and its used by my main display, so im using the iGPU's hdmi to drive my TV

and im duplicating the screens so no problems there

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately
