WD Green not showing up

Ok, so I have an old WD Green 2TB HDD that I took out of my old Apple Time Capsule 4th Gen, I put the drive into my system but it only shows up in the BiOS. Any ideas on what I have to do to make it show up in Windows? (and no, I cant see it in disk management either)

the file system on the drives is not recognized by Windows

 

to use the drive you need to use NTFS

 

use CMD and see if diskpart can detect it

It only shows my main drive

do you need the data in the drive?

 

it looks like you need to use LiveLinux boot CD to read the contents of the drive and format it to NTFS

No, the drive was a backup for my old iMac which still has all its data on it. I dont have a disk drive in my PC though. You cant be telling me that Windows cant detect and reformat a drive just because its file structure is different.

yes it TIme machine or Apple uses a different file structure that Windows cant pick up

Go to Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Computer Management>Disk Management

 

Is it in there? If so you can delete the partition and re-create it as NTFS.

 

NOTE: you will lose all data on the drive.

It only shows up in BiOS from what I can tell so far.

Never hear of it. Installing now. What do I do after?

Select the hard disk by clicking File > Load file system from device.

 

If it's still not detected then you must have a setting wrong somewhere.

 

The alternative is putting it back in the MAC and formatting it there.

It was never in a Mac ;-; just a Time Capsule, I cant really take apart my iMac or buy a external cady for it either.

It still didnt show up. Do I have to change something in the BiOS?

I made the drive hot swappable or hot something or whatever and it shows up in device manager now.....

Ok, I got it to show up in disk managment. It lists in 3 separate partitions. How do I format the whole drive?

Right click on each one and select "delete volume". Then you can create a new one using the full drive.
