Then you probably won't need it. Get the 390 instead.

@Elishah98, you can double your SSD storage space if you can fork out a couple more bucks, 120gb ssd dont have a good value

also, im assuming you already have a case? what case is it? as compatibility mostly have to do with your case

You should be getting an i7 6700 and a 390, both will be better choices and the 390 is going to be faster than a 970 and give you solid gains in DX12

Definitely going to double my ssd thanks for mentioning that, also this is the case I'm mostly likely getting http://www.thermaltakeusa.com/mobile/productinfo.aspx?id=C_00002473

Always liked nvidia and never checked out Radeon but will definitely look up some stuff and most likely will go with it, any reason for such a cheap motherboard? I've seen so many people go with expensive cpu and gpu and cheap motherboard

Because the motherboard doesn't effect the performance, only the features you get. Unless you need a bazillion sata ports, usually not worth.

might have to remove a hard drive cage or two to fit the gpu in

other than that, should be no problem

You just need to pick the right budget board, pretty much all the MSI ones offer USB 3.1 and great power delivery, the higher end boards mostly just offer more PCI-e lanes which most people don't need, or maybe like display port onboard, which again most people won't use

390 vs 970 benchmarks, more so wins at 1440p though, but you still save money should you get like a 1080p 144hz free-sync display, G-sync ones cost $100 more minimum, and then there's all the DX12 stuff

Thanks man for the links, will definitely check them out, I'm planning on having a double monitor setup, would the r9 be good for that?

Really? They have a picture of a gtx in it and doesn't look like they removed anything but idk

well, depends on which card you get

since you're still debating with the others

tbh i also support the choice of going with the r9 390 for more gaming performance

but if you like nvidia better then gtx 970 is fine too, they come with more features anyway

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately

Anything can run multiple monitors, need to start worrying about the GPU when you try to run more than 6

but its pointless to have them if you dont use them lol

they're not as elegant as shadowplay, and the performance hit is bigger too

so i wouldnt say that they can replace shadowplay entirely tbh lol

AMD has a shadowplay thing called GDVR, dunno about the rest of that though, I don't know of anyone who owns/uses a shield though....

but ya with an i7 6700 you have OBS which is going to give you more control and higher quality footage than shadowplay/GDVR, those things are more for weaker systems I'd say. But finding recent comparisons is hard.

i5 6600K should have much better single core performance than the 6700, assuming you overclock it of course

so it will perform better in some cpu bound games like arma 3 or some not so well optimized mmos

Not when you start streaming though, and the 6700 already turbos pretty high, even with an OC at most you're probably going to end up at like 4.5ghz which isn't really going to be worth it over losing hyperthreading.

but yea, i7 vs i5, it depends on what the OP wants to do

if he wanna stream professionally, the i7 would do him better

if he just wanna record some gameplays from time to time, the i5 will serve him better

Probably going to go with the i7, I want to stream for sure and record game plays from time to time also. So i7 is probably best for me
