Do i need a music technology course in college/ university for example to make it to the music industry or could i achieve that without the need of a college degree in music?

Depending on the jobs but most are needed with a college degree or a technical certification.

It probably helps, and not just because you'll have formal qualifications.

As a graduate of a conservatory, I can say that Music Technology is actually the most-suited subject to classroom learning than any other practical subject related to music. Of course, this would depend on your teacher.
