Psu wattage dilema

I see all of these builds on LTT and even though they may not be extremely powerful they still use 1000W PSUs. I'm building a i5 6600k, Asus Z170-A, Evga ssc 970, how many watts do i actually need

 

EDIT: I'm never going to go down the sli route because i want to turn it into a hackintosh

500 watts are enough for your computer.

650W will be fine, 750 is reasonable for this.

500W is definitely enough even for overclocking, assuming you get good psus

 

i recommend EVGA G2 550W

or Seasonic M12II 520W if you're on a tighter budget

The advantage to buying a higher wattage PSU is possible upgradability later, i suppose. 
I bought an 850w thinking I was going down a different path. But it doesn't hurt to have it overkill.
