PSU started making spark sounds and buzzing

A few months ago i built a pc for my brother. Today he told me he saw sparks from the power cable in the PSU. I went in and checked it and saw it/heard it as well. I also heard a buzz sound from the PSU itself. Obviously this buzz sound doesn't happen if i press the On/Off button on the PSU. Is there anything i can do before i RMA'ing it? The model is an EVGA Supernova G2 550W.

possibly a power surge, send the unit back in immediately

No you can't, if it really comes from the PSU just RMA it.

Messing with the psu can be lethal, no joke, so don't even think about openinig it.

Power outages and surges are very rare here where i live but why didn't my other PC get damaged?

EVGA G2 have a defect which can cause issues when there are power outages. Replace it

Just read that but i don't think that's it since there haven't been any power outages while the PSU has been powered on.

the G2 550W is fine, it was updated in the thread (scroll down a few post)

650W and 750W though, are not
