The r9 390 is the better buy.

They are about equal since they trade blows so it depends on the games you play but people here seem to forget that and blindly reccomend the 390, it's a good card but before you suggest to the OP, figure out what games they play and actually look at benchmarks before blindly reccomending video cards.

I just went from a gtx 970 to an R9 390x and man did I not realize how much more heat this AMD would produce. I had to rearrange all the fans in my case to accommodate it. Caused my watercooled CPU temps to raise by 8C on average.
