The router reset didn't help so i called them again. They said that here on Monday they would go out and check the "box" on the street and check for interference. Hope this solves it.

What happens when you do a nslookup?

You should start your own thread but it checks what IP the DNS server gives when you type for example nslookup google.com

I think he knows that.

He probably asked you what happens if you do it.

@TheiBurger .... @.spider. is correct, I was suggesting you perform a nslookup since it wasn't mentioned in this thread.

Oh *** i didn't read that sorry! English isn't my native language. My ISP is doing a "noise" test in the neighborhood here on Monday since this happens on all computers in my home. Appreciate the suggestions!

roger that - dns is such a small packet that I am surprised at the way it is behaving. I hope they find the issue. One time our ISP found out that the run to our building was insulated with paper - everytime it rained we'd get packet loss or lose connectivity lol.

It happens rarely but is annoying so won't it be hard for a technician to diagnose? Also i'm using YouSee and the model is a Netgear C6250EMR. I have also just confirmed it's happening on other computers at my home but they don't notice anything.

That router has a known bug - YouSee have just sent out a new firmware for it :)

It will spike on 100% CPU and drop 5-8 packets and then drop down to about 20% CPU usage again.

It should update by itself right? Also the firmware version for the router is V2.01.03

You'll have to download the firmware from Netgear and then go into the router, point it to the file, and then click upgrade. Just make sure the power doesn't go out.

Well it's Yousee's router so i don't think i am allowed to do that. Also i read somewhere on their site that it should update automatically from their end.

Ah so it's from the ISP, they should push down the update then but if you can access all the settings then you doing the upgrade won't be an issue. Generally it's the modem that you can't touch the firmware on.

Got it, so then you can't touch the firmware which sucks since some ISPs will wait forever to push down firmware that fixes bugs.

It should.

I cannot remember which firmware version is the buggy one, it was something I discovered at a client some time ago.

YouSee is not auto updating firmware as far as I know, but they make it available for you to upgrade when it suits you.

And no, you should not apply an update from Netgears webpage, that will brick the device.

If you log into the router, do you have an option to upgrade the firmware in there?

I'll see what they say tommorow since they said they would troubleshoot the "box" at our street for noise problems.

The technician who was here today told me they would be collecting some diagnostics and survey the line for some time to check for problems. Hope they see something soon :)
