Onboard graphics won't work

Go to solution Solved by Guest,

In the case that the integrated graphics did break, shouldn't it cause the mobo to malfunction?

------------------------------

I don't think its the connectors because i tried vga, dvi and the hdmi output...

I think a single component on a motherboard can malfunction without the whole thing going down (if it's not essential to running the pc, of course)

Only suggestion I have left is to try replacing the motherboard :/

Why do you even want to run without your discrete GPU?

If somebody could help me out with the following problem it would be great :)

Problem:

When i try running my computer without my discrete graphics card it just turns the monitor on and shows vertical pink and white lines... The motherboard works fine when i  use it with a graphics card, its just the onboard graphics.

I havent tried checking for bios updates since i have not been able to download the bios update checker from the asus website.

Specs:

- Asus M4A78T-E motherboard

- Phenom ll x4 3.2ghz

Could you explain yourself a little more please?

A CPU can handle the graphics for a pc (that's why they're called onboard graphics) However, not all motherboards are actually compatible with this. They require a discrete graphics card just to display something on a screen. I'll do a bit of research and I'll check if you're motherboard supports onboard graphics. If it doesn't, that means you need a discrete card.

Wait a sec... sorry. My mistake. It turns out your motherboard has an intergrated GPU (so pretty much a small graphics card built into the motherboard). The CPU doesn't handle it.

Here's a pic from the ASUS website as proof:

As for the pink and white lines, it could be becasuse this Integrated GPU isn't working for some reason, or you could have a bad display connector on your motherboard.
