The monitor will work, but you won't be able to use the adaptive refresh rate offered by FreeSync- you'll need an AMD card to use that technology.

Also, I'd recommend checking whether the 144Hz refresh rate corresponds to the variable or the fixed refresh rate of the monitor. Some displays like this Viewsonic monitor have different refresh rates for each. Without FreeSync (fixed refresh rate), this monitor only operates at 60Hz, but has a variable refresh rate range of 48-75Hz when utilizing FreeSync.

Exactly, a lot of LG monitors also work like that, getting 60 Hz but 75 Hz with FreeSync enabled. But I believe that 144 Hz monitors are 144 Hz all the time and you don't need FreeSync enabled for this.

It doesn't hurt to double-check, especially when one's about to throw down a significant sum to purchase one.
