Greek people speaking modern Greek so hopefully they just forgot to append 'ancient' before hand.

D12 is theory until it makes its way into usefulness, Greek is a great language but it is dead! Where does one see the gains. Prove it! Don_svelio I do have respect for you, please explain more. I am not convinced

 

Scientist use ancient Greek to name flowers, and animals, because it does not change. It is a dead language. There is no such thing as greek, just like there is no language called chinese; it is mandarin or Cantonese. Ancient Latin is another dead language, and there are still Latin people

Erm, did you copy-pasta part of this comment?

Anyhow, Greek is not dead - it's actively used for communication in Greece and if memory serves me right, according to my Philology studies, a language which is used to communicate is considered to be alive
