Does ram speed improve Intel HD530 Performance?

Go to solution Solved by DrM,

its does, since the iGPU uses system RAM as the VRAM, so to say, but for the amount of money you spend on high speed memory, the performance gain is negliable

It should in CPU bound scenarios, like gta 5 and source games like csgo. Not sure about scenarios that arent so CPU dependent.

I'm planning to buy an i7 6700k, and a 3200mhz gskill trident z ram, does oc the ram into 3200mhz improve the iGPU? Thanks

it should up to a certain point. if you have 80 gigs of ram versus 120 than it will make no difference. from 2-4,8 or 16 it will make a bigger difference.

Yes it does. System RAM is relatively slow, so a high speed kit is a very useful thing.

If you're chucking that much money on a CPU, what are you doing not buying a GPU? Intel HD Graphics have always sucked balls, and RAM speed in theory should improve performance of them. The intergrated GPU is on the CPU package (I think) and it gets its information and holds it with the RAM of the computer. So fast RAM in high capacities should yield better performance.

  • Waiting for Pascal?
  • Waiting another few months to save up and get a much better GPU than he could afford right now?
  • Using the iGPU ALONGSIDE a discreet card (and before you call BS, I actually do that)?
  • Making a slim rig without a graphics card?

Yeah I'm waiting for pascal and using the iGPU for filling my time with light games like cs go etc.

So this is sucking balls? http://www.digitaltrends.com/computing/three-generations-intel-hd-graphics-tested/

Your probably thinking of old iGPU such as the 915GML (which I had Portal running on with a shitty Celeron M380)
