3 beeps and no POST (RAM is fine)

McMitch

So I recently bought some new hardware (combined with an old CPU) to build my own NAS,

Mobo: Intel DH61DL

CPU: i3 3220

RAM: 2x4GB Kingston HyperX 1333MHz

When I power it on there is no POST and I get 3 long beeps that repeat, this would usually indicate a RAM issue, but I have tried all combinations of 1 DIMM in each slot, and even some other (known working) RAM from my machine.

I also tried resetting the CMOS and reseating the CPU. But I still get the beeps.

Could it be anything else?

Thanks

Intel website clearly indicate that 3 beeps is a memory error http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/boards-and-kits/000005473.html

Have you checked that the contacts on the socket are clean ?

I can't SEE anything, but I sprayed them with some compressed air and reseated the RAM again and I get the same issue

Although unlikely, you should check there is no bent pins on your cpu socket.

I did check when I first reseated my CPU, but I just checked again and reseated it again and couldn't see anything

I'm out of idea, is the mobo new or did you get it on ebay/craiglist ?

It was from eBay, but it was never opened. So brand new

I tried the new RAM in my computer and it worked fine, it is not a fault with the RAM, most likely the RAM slots :/

How could I further diagnose?
