I have a Dell Inspiron 3847 i3847-6162BK Desktop and I need to know the model so I can change my cpu to a i7 or i5.

In short I need to know if it is a LGA 1151 for example.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

I also know i need a new fan and thermal paste for it.

That is the problem, It is a store bought PC, I don't care if I void it or not.

Use a program like CPU-Z, tells you all the important stuff you need to know. A quick google search shows that PC as having a 4th gen intel CPU, LGA 1150

That pc only supports haswell ( lga 1150 ) processors . The best you can get is a 4790k , and you probably will have to change the psu and cooler

AMD Ryzen R7 1700 (3.8ghz) w/ NH-D14, EVGA RTX 2080 XC (stock), 4*4GB DDR4 3000MT/s RAM, Gigabyte AB350-Gaming-3 MB, CX750M PSU, 1.5TB SDD + 7TB HDD, Phanteks enthoo pro case

If you could tell us what CPU you have now, we could tell you what socket that CPU has.

Albeit, it seems that it's LGA1150. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883158294 http://ark.intel.com/products/77490/Intel-Core-i3-4170-Processor-3M-Cache-3_70-GHz

Here are my specs,

1080p and a 32in TV (Somewhere around the 1600 x ? range)

GTX 960 2GB

16GB RAM DDR3 1600

I think 400W or 450W PSU

But I am also pretty sure that my PSU is forever attached to the top of my PC.

Is it possible to remove that too?

There should be screws attaching the psu to the top of your case . It should support standard ATX power supplies

Thank you

If you can replace it, any 500W PSU with an 80+ rating would work fine with an i5 or i7 put into it.

do all PSUs fit every case?

Not all small form factor oem psus will fit in a lot of cases but if they are the standard atx size about 6in by 3.5in in the back by however long then any atx psu can replace it.
