First Time Upgrading

Go to solution Solved by かあびぃ,

TBH: You have to spend a bit more than 200$ to make a sizeable upg. on that system.

With 350$ you could be well on your way to getting a serious system:

With this build you can keep the i5 for a long while, and upg the gpu later down the road in a couple of years. This will keep you going for another   ~ 3 years

Hello there, this is my first post after watching a few linus videos but im still confused about a few issues.
So i thought of giving it a try before i go to a best buy and pick up a random gpu.

1. My budget is around $200 (for my first buy, ill get more at the end of the month), i am currently living in Laredo, Texas.

2. I'm currently aiming for a medium type pc gaming rig.

3. I only run one monitor at 1024 X 819

4. I'm going to upgrade since i just scored a free copy of  "Overwatch"

5. I have spare Harddrives and PCU*s so no need to upgrade them since i can swap them to the needs of a new gpu.

Okay lol well i'd have to reccomend a cpu, gpu, and monitor upgrade. Okay first thing i'd upgrade personally is your cpu. Look at a 8320 ($120) and a cheap atx motherboard ($60). Next month I'd reccomend a cheap 2gb 960 (~$170) or 4gb 960 or amd 380 (~$180?). If you can't afford those gpus get a 750ti.  After that if you can afford any more upgrades i'd go for a 1080p monitor. The difference is amazing from that to 1080p. You can get a cheap acer 21.5 inch for $80

Please upgrade that display, and probably grab this 250, it's only 60 bucks, it'll fit well with the CPU, which isn't actually the worst thing ever for gaming

Then save your money for an AM4 based APU rig in the new future most likely

Also you didn't list your power supply

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?
