Posted April 17, 2016 Im gonna just cut to the chase and ask what is a .iso file? Ive downloaded Windows 7 usb/download tool (hoping it works for windows 10 too) and the first thing it tells me is Choose ISO File: and then a box. What do i do? Posted April 17, 2016 The 7 tool won't work. Win 10 has it's own tool. The lower link in here: www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 The upper is for in-OS non-clean installation. Posted April 17, 2016 As @Naeaessaid, the .iso file is basically just a disc image file. It doesn't have to be an installer or anything.. anyone could make an .iso file that is just a bunch of files etc very easily. The key part here is to make the .iso image bootable, so that the USB device you put the .iso onto can be booted when you start the PC. I personally hate the windows USB tool, much easier with rufus.
