Are they really necessary? What are the benefits of having one? Recommend me a 20+ soundcard?

Without a soundcard, you won't have any sound.:P

 

Jokes aside, I couldn't live without a proper DAC. Once you get something decent, you really notice how horrible basic integrated solutions make everything sound.

 

That being said, there are some decent integrated solutions as well

 

If you want to record stuff, it will be hard to get away without a proper audio interface as well.


What exactly do you mean by 20+?

My opinion on 16:9

use the one on your motherboard with a external dac

Before you buy amp and dac.  My thoughts on the M50x  Ultimate Ears Reference monitor review I might have a thing for audio...

My main Headphones and IEMs:  K612 pro, HD 25 and Ultimate Ears Reference Monitor, HD 580 with HD 600 grills

DAC and AMP: RME ADI 2 DAC

Speakers: Genelec 8040, System Audio SA205

Receiver: Denon AVR-1612

Desktop: R7 1700, GTX 1080  RX 580 8GB and other stuff

after i picked up the sound card off the flor and shoved it in my PC i dont want to be without it, mainly because of the extra ports for speakers but also because it just sounds way better then before :) i got mine for free because, like i said, it was literally on my floor but i cant say you NEED one. i was fine with on board :) 

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...
