What is the best graphics card under $100 USD (no more.)

Also it needs to be without a power connector.

AMD or NVIDIA is fine.

What ever is the best performance for under $100 and does not require a power connector.

How much does that matter?

Just want to make sure your CPU won't be holding the GPU back or the other way around.

It's an i5. I'm getting the PC as a gift from my friend so I dont actually know what's in it. I know that it's an i5 though.

Ok, sounds good. I would recommend picking up that 750 Ti.

Just realized it needs a 6 pin. Haven't ordered it though. But still :(

r7 250 sapphire edition is a a great card. it can game on medium settings at 1080p. Great video on the card.

In terms of gaming performance, the 750 ti will outperform that card 2.5 times over.  The r7 240/250 series is strictly geared towards a home theater PC that needs low power consumption/noise/high vRam.  In other words, a waste of money for 95% of the people who probably buy it.

A used 7870, or if you are lucky, a used 7950.

Yeah, if you're in the market for a used graphics card and have a decent PSU, this is an even better way to go.  Sounds like the OP doesn't have one though, and would have to spend a little bit of extra for that.

I thought the MSI GTX 750 ti runs off of system bus power?

Yup.  Not the only one.  http://www.game-debate.com/hardware/?gid=883&graphics=GeForce%20GTX%20750%20Ti
