What platform are you using?

I like the color scheme of Noctua fans. Deal with it. Forget about the bad memories of the past.

I am going to be using a 16gb kit of Corsair dominator platinum ram and I cant decide whether or not to get 4x 4gb sticks or 2x 8gb sticks. Is there any benifit?

Get higher nominals so you can upgrade with more sticks in the future. (4x8GB possibility). Unless you got some Extreme Intel mobo with 8 DIMMs or more, or maybe some AMD server mobo.

So... If Jesus had the gold, would he buy himself out instead of waiting 3 days for the respawn?

If not too much of a price difference go with 2 x 8GB's, gives you the options of going to 32 Gigs in the future if needed, if not then you have some extra space for air to cool your DIMM's. Or if you want to cool look of filled up RAM slots do the 4 x 4GB's.

I roll with sigs off so I have no idea what you're advertising.

This is NOT the signature you are looking for.

We need to know what platform you are going with (Intel? AMD? LGA 1155? 1150? 2011? AM3+?)

Also keep in mind, more RAM modules installed puts more stress on the memory controller.

I would personally recommend a 2 X 8GB kit, BUT, depending on the platform you are using, it may be better to go 4 X 4GB (i.e. LGA 2011 uses Quad-Channel memory technology).

everyone seems to forget that the memory is dual channel. it'd surely be more beneficial to run two sticks then to run 4 sticks in the same dual config. I need this confirming though.

I'd recommend the 2x8GB, I think this is more beneficial for little reasons, like heat, power, future expansion etc.

All four DIMM slots being full, makes for a cleaner look.(aesthetically speaking)

Unless you will benefit from more RAM in the future? (up to 32gigs) Video editing, rendering and the like.

But if only gaming and maybe light editing, and the like then go with full DIMM's.

Get 2 8GB sticks so you can add 2 8gb sticks later if you want and not waste any RAM.

A water-cooled mid-tier gaming PC.

I dont think ill need am more than 16gb but I do plan to do video editing and Autodesk. But mainly gamming

16 will be enugh then. 32gb will be if yu are a heavy user for 3ds applications will draw alot of ram, but light use will be fine.

I think 16GB would be fine for gaming and slight video editing.

Just buy  2x 8GB RAM modules and later on you'll have te option to add another 2x 8GB.

I found it harder to achieve a stable overclock (at the same clock speed) when all the dimms are populated.

Kind of wished I had got a 3x 4gb ram kit instead of a 6x 2gb ram kit for my 1366 socket board.

there is risk of if, just if, one of ur 8Gb stick malfunctions in future u would have a greater loss than losing 4gb stik but then again u have the benefit of upgrade option in future.

personally i would go for 8gx2

I would just go with 2x8gb sticks so you can expand in the future.
