H97 or Z97 motherboard??? What the difference between them

Hi guys^^

I'm still building my PC, everything is fine and..

I got this hard decision to choose between choosing the MSI H97-Gaming 3 or the MSI Z97-Gaming 3..

I don't know to choose between them, I don't even know the differences between the H97 and the Z97...

Can you guys tell me what's the difference or the quick tip between choosing one of them or the other motherboard^^

Thanks guys for reading my post, and sorry for my bad English...

Z allows overclocking, H doesn't.

if you get an unlocked processor, you need a Z chipset to allow OC

if you get a locked cpu, any will do

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately

Remember that you also need an unlocked CPU for it to be overclockable.

If you don't have a K CPU, get the H97 board...

If you do have a K CPU, get the Z97 board...

In 99% of the situations, the decision making should start and stop there.  (leaving out the odd edge case)

okay then...

between these three which one is better ??
1. Asus H97 PRO (LGA1150, Intel H97, DDR3)
2. MSI H97-Gaming 3 (LGA1150, H97, DDR3)

3.GIGABYTE GA-H97-HD3 (LGA1150, H97, DDR3, SATA3, USB3)

thanks ^^

My normal default answer would be the ASUS, because frankly I'm an ASUS person. :)

That being said, I doubt you would go wrong with any of them, MSI and Gigabyte make fine stuff, as far as I know.

Do you have a favorite brand that has the BIOS design that you prefer?  Which one has better features for the price?

I'd take the ASUS or Gigabyte over the MSI. Nothing wrong with MSI boards that I've ever come across, just that MSI's BIOS is a little clunkier and harder to work with than Gigabyte's or ASUS' is.

Aerocool DS are the best fans you've never tried.
