Hey guys,

I would like to buy an SSD (probably the 840 EVO 120GB) to speed up boot times and reduce system noise. I currently use a 1TB hard drive which is almost halfway full. My question is, can I transfer my OS across whilst leaving all my programs alone?

I think Samsung's included drive cloning software allows you to do this; however, I may be wrong.

You can just reinstall your OS if need be, it would help clear out anything you didn't want on it too.

The trouble with that is that it would take me a very long time to get my machine back to the way it is now. There's also pretty much nothing clogging up my startup - bootup times are pretty much identical to what they were when I first built it.

Would that, say, let me leave steam on my hard drive, and remain functional, whilst cloning my OS to the ssd?
