My PC is quite quiet but I want to make it near silent. Any way I can do this? I have a budget of £35. My HDD is the noisiest when it is reading/writing it is quite loud. If I was to get a quieter HDD could I transfer all my programs and continue like nothing happened afterwards? I am using the Intel stock cooler and the fan that came with my case. Also a fan keeps speeding up to max speed and going back to normal speed again. Could it be my GPU as it as someone else has the same problem with the same GPU. Also I don't want to watercool because I am worried it will leak all over my components and I cant upgrade or change my pc for a while.

This is a bit off topic but any tips about how to do cable management. I suck at it and my pc looks a mess.

Thanks.

Is it worth getting the hyper 212X instead of the hyper 212 evo? (The X is a newer one) also, should I replace the case fan that came with my case?

To make it quiet just put it outside your door and get longer cables lol.

I have nowhere to put it outside my door. :P

Your options are:

  • Get SSD. Like said, there is no silent HDD. You can get better performing ones or slower ones but neither is really solution. If you have small budget, look for vibration reducers. The kit I'm using was under €10.
  • Get aftermarket cooler. Stock CPU coolers are pretty bad for gaming PCs and i7s. 212 Evo, 212X, Pure Rock and H7 are the lower end of selection. They are all in same price range, just pick which ever is cheapest. Difference in performance and noise is minimal.
  • Make fan curves for GPU (easiest with MSI Afterburner), CPU fan (BIOS or mobo software/Speedfan) and case fans (usually only Speedfan).
