Green Distortion after cleaning GPU

did you check all your cables? replug them in, replug power to computer, replug monitor etc etc

HELP!

XFX R9 280x

so i had this pc for two months and I havent cleaned it since I got it. so i opened it and gently did bursts of air on the fans and thats all I did on the gpu

i booted it up and there was some green distortion all over the screen

help :l 

i spent all of my money

sos

i also missed my lifetime warranty opportunity so thats nice

Check ALL cables are secure (monitor, GPU, PSU cables, etc)

 

Post a screenshot and picture (with a phone or something) if you can

Pictures of it? Also did you try reseating the display cable connecting to both the gpu and back of the monitor?

thanks so much for this and the rest of my replies, just reconnected power and dvi and it worked

better than tomshardware saying my gpu was fried or dead

Lucky you!  My personal suggestion would have been that you bumped the GPU heatsink hard enough that you caused a few solder joints to break.  Meaning that you'd have to obtain the services of someone like Linus recently did a video of in NYC for the repair.
