Research paper (Yay)

I am needing to write a 5 page research paper on "How the invention of nuclear weapons has put a long period of global peace". I was wondering what I need to research, (Like do I told about each individual major country? How they began nuclear research? Ect.). Any help would be fantastic!

You should mention how possession of nuclear weapons brings peace in a sense that nations will think twice before going up against such a powerful weapon and will usually refrain from going into an all-out war. Nuclear weapons may cause peace in such a sense that they are deterrents to waging war against, but cause greater tension between nations due to that overwhelming potential of destruction that any nation fears. Also there's the whole mutually assured destruction as one hell of a deterrent
