I have had an i3 4360 in my system for some time now paired with my r9 390 but have recently came across an i5 3470 and was wondering, what one would benefit me more in playing games? Thanks!

Edit: I have motherboard for both processors.

The I5 3470 is a Sandy Bridge processor on the LGA 1155 platform. You're going to need an LGA1155 motherboard to make that work- you can't just pop it into the LGA 1150 motherboard you're using right now.

Go for it, then. It's only one generation removed from Haswell, so the single-core performance shouldn't be too far below, and you'll benefit from four physical cores more than a hyperthreaded dual-core.

Then what did you wish to further consult us about?
