You've end up getting into that cycle of "Whats another $20."
I'd get the 770 over the 750ti, though.

building it for my brother. He wants an Nvidia build.

To be honest, I have GTX 770 and it can play anything at 1080p just fine but R9 380 aged really a lot better and outperforms the 770 in almost every game now. I am saying this because going for brand instead of performance is kinda silly IMHO. (That said if you can get R9 380 for simmilar price and there is also 4GB version).

he wants it for other reasons. drivers, preformance in certain games, emulators, etc

If you are on W10 then drivers are not strong argument for NVIDIA .. I had so many driver crashes it is not even funny. And as I said .. GTX 770 used to be neck to neck with R9 280(x) but AMD drivers got better and outperformed it by a decent 10-15% in most games.

GTX 770 is also more powerfull on paper than a GTX 960 but in reality all new games optimized for NVIDIA cards are mainly for Maxwell and Kepler got a lot more overlooked so in most new games it performs worse than GTX 960.

And people recommend R9 280(x) or R9 380(x) over GTX 960 because it performs better for the same or cheaper price.

GTX 770 is really getting behind nowdays.

It will do the job fine at 1080p ... but the other cards I mentioned will do better job.
