Hello everyone,

so, Windows 10 does this thing where it automatically lowers the volume of any new process. Helps with ads, I suppose, but is a massive pain for me. Even when I have muted a program it will still make everything else be quiet, and I have to chart voice chat before a game if I want to both hear my friend and not be deafened by the game. So, how do I disable this feature, because I cannot for my life find it.

Cheers,

John

Do you use skype? If you do, go to your skype audio settings and uncheck the automatically adjust speakers box.

I'll try that. Although I basically never have Skype running, so I doubt that's the issue...

You have something running that says to Windows that it is a communication device, and listening to your microphone.
I would look into that, but the option to disable this behavior is under sound panel.

Go to the Sound Panel (Search in the search box "Sound", or go through the Control Panel (right-click on the Start button, and select "Control Panel"), and once there, go under the Communications tab, and select Do nothing, and click on OK.

I've done that already. Thought it might be that, but it definitely isn't. I kinda suspect chrome might be involved, because I'm quite sure that at least of the two sound sources (or apparent sound sources) is always Chrome, but that might also be because I just generally always have that open...
