I didn't get this card new - but after a bit of use I noticed something was up.

Most people were able to get 200mhz overclocks on their EVGA GTX 780 SCs. I used the same settings as them, like +38mVs, +200MHz clock, etc. and every time I ran a game or benchmark it stopped and I got a little error letting me know the NVIDIA drivers froze and recovered, but the game is still frozen. Tuning down the OC to +100MHz works fine though. When I ran Unigine Heaven, I noticed my scores were low-ish, like 1500 or so. Taking a closer look during the benchmark reveals my memory is running at 3000 MHz, and looking at GPU-Z, the memory is running at an EXTREMELY slow 1502 MHz. What?? The memory is advertised to run at 6004 MHz, but it isn't nearly that high. What is the problem?

System:

i5-6600k @ 4.7 GHZ

G.Skill Ripjaws V @ 3200 MHz

Gigabyte Z170-HD3P

840 EVO ssd

EDIT: Unigine Heaven shows my GPU running at 1406 MHz, which is a lot more than the 967+100 MHz its supposed to be running at. Also, the memory speed shown in Unigine Heaven is exactly half of the advertised VRAM speed (3004 instead of 6008), and GPU-Z shows half of that (1502 instead of 6008)

the 6000mhz is the effective memory speed, the real memory speed of 1500 is doubled 2 times, the different programm just show different kinds of memory speed.

You cant really say the heaven score is bad because the heaven score depends on your settings.

If you use 2560x1440 instead of 1080p youll get 30-50% less fps and a 30-50% lower score for example.
