How to deal with background noise on a condenser microphone

I need a good usb mic. I want the snowball yeti or at2020. At2020 is on amazon for 82 bucks yeti for 128 and snowball for 45. I am leaning towards at2020 but my pc is in a place where you can pretty much hear everyone downstairs. What mic is the best for handling background noise. I heard with the yeti you can lower gain knob and turn up gain on windows but would an at2020 work just as well? Thanks in advance!!

Do you need a dedicated microphone? headset microphones can be much better option to reduce background noise.

It seems like they are doing recording for like YT or something, they can just use Audacity to clear up the noise but they should get the Yeti to adjust the gain. All of them are perfectly fine, to be honest.

Yeah I hate gaming headsets, I bought an actual good pair of ad700xs and need a dedicated mic. Plus it sounds better. Anyway camper do you think I will be okay if I get the at2020 when people downstairs are talking?

Isolation filters have worked wonders for me and my AT2020, but it doesnt fully eliminate all background noise. Other option is to line the room your set up is in with foam.

When you say fine does that mean that the at2020 would pick up noise from downstairs. I can hear almost everything people say downstairs

Get noise dampening foam? My mic doesn't pic up noise from anywhere besides right next to it but it IS meant for like music recording.

What would that achieve?

If you don't want to get background noise, don't buy condenser microphone. Simple as that. Eg. during recording sessions they can easily pick up sound from the musician's headphones is some cases. For great background noise rejections look at Shure SM7 (not 57, if someone thinks it is a typo), Electro Voice RE20 or Heil (which is much cheaper than previously mentioned microphones). Even handheld dynamic microphones are great choice (and much cheaper).

I own at2020 and SE Reflexion Filter. The filter only cuts what is behind the microphone so if the microphone is meant to be far away from you, it's not gonna help. The best way is to actually isolate the room itself. Put a blanket on a door and stuff. If you want to record music - just buy a dynamic microphone.
