question about overclock

Hi, I have recently started to overclock my AMD A6 6400K (3.9Ghz stock) I have been able to clock up to 4.6Ghz but after that my system shuts down, I am running on an asus A88XM-A motherboard with a 500 watt CiT power supply.

 

I am wondering could it be the power supply not being good enough to clock speed any higher or could it be that the board cant handle the overclock? 

 

I am new to overclocking so I am trying to understand what is holding me back and trying to get it right.

what are your temps?

normally its the cpu itself not being able to stay stable after a certain clock speed

psu and motherboard plays a role for delivering clean power for more stable overclock

but how far can you push the chip is determined by the chip itself most of the time

 

also, temperature might be an issue here if you're not cooling it adequately

your cpu is more stable at lower temps

i have put a hardware monitor report in with this post, i am running a cooler master hyper 103 for cooling

im running a stress test on cpu and it is running at 4.6Ghz and hitting a maximum of 29 degrees c on both cores running at 100% cpu usage.

 

and im getting between 3-6 degrees c at idle.
