Hi guys, so I was thinking of upgrading to a EVGA G2 850W PSU from a Corsair CX750 that I have been using for 2 1/2 years now. The Corsair used to be in a HP with one of my 270X's and used both to help me with my build in September 2015. Why is there a lot of hate on the CX750 or CX series?

Also I was thinking of adding another set of 16GB of RAM and upgrading my graphics cards sometime soon as I will be selling one of my 270X to a friend and thinking about going with a R9 390X.

Most of the PSUs in the series have a direct competitor that is better in every single way, for the same price or cheaper.

That doesn't mean that they are living timebombs, like the echo-chamber on these forums would have you think. They just aren't great. If you'd feel safer with a better PSU, then go for it :) the G2 is a beast.

Ok thanks for the advice, I was wondering if I was going to have a problem down the road with the Corsair, but I suppose I am fine.

A good 600w is already more than enough--there's no need to upgrade.

The CX series gets hate because there are better power supplies for more money and some people paint anything short of outstanding as bad.

If you ever need help with a build, read the following before posting: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/3061-build-plan-thread-recommendations-please-read-before-posting/

With a 270X you're fine on 500W, for one, and two, a CX is fine for your system.

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.

OK so if its going to be a R9 390X in the future, will the CX still hold up to overclocking on it?
