Just fm2 then? Do amd still make them, the whole cpu market for amd confuses me

The FM2+ socket makes Athlon II X4 CPUs as well. The 860k is a popular option.

The FM2+ socket is for Athlon II X4 CPUs as well as APUs. The AM3+ is for FX CPUs (generally higher performance CPUs.)

the FX series and A(insert number here) are the "latest" processors. AMD hasnt produced a new line in several years which is why they are no longer as recommended. The A series are apus, more comparable to the consumer grade intel lineup (but without hyperthreading) and the FX series has a lot of cores, my old fx8350 has 8 weaker cores instead of 4 stronger ones, making it a little better for productivity and not as many games. If you already have the motherboard the A10 7850k is the best cpu in that socket. If you are still planning then just go with intel (For CPU, go with amd graphics if you want) because they are newer and will ultimately last you longer)

It'll work fine if that's what you mean. The GTX 950 is pretty weak though...

AMD Athlon X4 860K, and yes, it can be paired with a GTX 950 without any problems.

The Athlon X4 860k is probably the best of the FM2 CPUs. It's basically an A10 without the integrated GPU.

I would go for the 860k although the 845 does have better single threaded performance, the 860k will generally give more fps because of L2 cache.

its the Baseclock.

You aint gonna get over 110 baseclock. without serious luck and fiddling.

 

ATM, my own Athlon X4 845 is running at 4077MHz with a 106 Baseclock OC...

It matches or exceeds the performance of my 7870k at 4.4 GHz....

 

It has no problem pushing a GTX 950. I would know, because i got the ASUS GTX 950 "ITX". In most cases, im 100% GPU bound, although some titles like Ashes of the SIngularity (DX12 mode) does cause CPU bottlenecks. But that is mostly due to it being an incredibly CPU demanding game.
