TP link adapters only running a 100 mbps connection

DebatED Nothing

I have my PC connected to my router using a pair of 500 Mbps capable TPLink adapters, but according to my router and windows the speed of the connection is set to 100 mbps only, whereas when I connect with another wired device the router shows the connection speed as 1000 Mbps (local, obviously). To me this suggests that they're configured incorrectly, because surely if they have their speeds set to 100 Mbps maximum then that's going to be limiting them quite severely. Anyone encountered an issue like this before? Might I have faulty adapters or is my house's wiring just too bad to use TP link connectors?

I need to run an ethernet cable straight between my PC and router more often...

What adapter are we talking about? as a 500mbps adapter is to generic, it most likely has only a 100mbps port on the bottom like most powerline adapters do.

This exact kit here. http://www.amazon.co.uk/TP-LINK-TL-PA4016P-KIT-Passthrough-Powerline/dp/B016ZZAVYI?ie=UTF8

Am I being an idiot, does the 500 apply to something else?

So at the moment I'm getting a solid 10 MBps out of them, but I know the network is capable of almost 30 MBps, and the adapters are supposed to be capable of 62.5 MBps (500/8) I've replaced the cable that came with the adapters on both ends as they were cat 5 (with cat 6 cables) but that's only made a few MB's difference. Is the rest of the slowdown just due to the restrictions on using the powerline's?

I've replaced the cables with CAT 6 at both ends, but the listed network speed on my router and on windows is still only 100 Mbps. What's going on?

So as was discussed in your other topic, the listing on Amazon doesn't have the full device specifications. The only thing they claim is that it is an "AV500" unit that can run at 500Mb/s - which is perfectly accurate as far as the Powerline side of the devices goes. Where they are misleading is to not include the specifications of the ethernet port. Ethernet can only be 100Mb/s or 1Gb/s, nothing in between. The full specifications on TP-Link's website, and I'm sure the box as well, do include this fact.
