I wanted to know what could possibly cause a screen to make so many flashing blue and red horizontal lines. I know for sure it is the GPU, but what on the GPU could possibly be causing this?

The output works fine when its not booting from the GPU (and the GPU being removed from the PCIE slot), but as soon as the GPU is in and the output plugged into it, this happens.

What I've done:

Reseated the GPU

Reseated the CMoS battery

I appreciate any help

Many thanks

Could be some capactiors that are blown off which can usually cause graphical glitches, replace them and you should be okay, other than that try replacing the thermal paste and cleaning it/bringing it out of the case to see if it has to do something with temperatures.

Hope it helps

That is some pretty bad artifacts... Check for blown caps (said above^^^^) but if not that looks like a dead GPU for whatever reason! If it is still in warranty then RMA ASAP if not, u may need to purchase another

Good luck dude

I've got a picture of the GPU itself too. I doubt its got to do with the thermals though as its barely on for longer than 2 minutes at a time before i turn it off to try something else. What did happen though was as soon as i took the picture of the GPU, its heat sink popped off, right there and then after the picture was taken. I put it back on and secured it again, tried it once more, and same predicament

the blue and red lines generally happens with the monitor cable more than the card.  but I am going to assume they brought it in with  this problem with a different monitor ,,, sounds like a bad solder connection , but its an obvious connection issue ,  and not a  chip issue in my opinion.   they could have got the card hot  and ruined ithe chip of course you could .... try the  baking method if you  cannot figure it out  after a certain point   its either that or replace the card. but  another thing i would look at is the wires on the fan not exposed anywhere cuasing a short perhaps ,,I am pretty sure this is not the case but eliminating all possibilities is the best policy.

I doubt it would be the fans wire as the entirety of the wire is still insulated. On the other side, I'd also thought of it being the monitor's cable, but I then hooked it up to another test bench, with a different monitor, and achieved the same result.
