I am once again in need of assistance!

I am in the process of rendering videos. While my old 7970 shows up just fine in any video rendering software, my 980ti does not, sony says "no gpu available". I read something somewhere that nvidia weren't doing cuda acceleration anymore so the whole maxwell architecture wouldn't work with that... that true ? If it is, is there any way I can get my 980ti to help in rendering ? it just sits at 0 while the cpu does everything which is quite slow. If it is not true then what is wrong and how do I fix it ? I've got all the latest version/drivers of everything but no can do, if you guys know what's going on, the help would be much appreciated!

Cheers

nvidia card doesn't really do much CUDA... at all so all I can say is that I'm sorry that you didn't do your research before hand and you'll have to get an AMD that does do CUDA try reinstalling your 7970 if you don't have it in possession i guess your stuck with CPU. Nvidia has generally been more on the gaming side while AMD does better with more other uses of GPUs like rendering, servers, math, etc

Build Name:

Anton

CPU: I7 4790K

GPU: ZOTAC RTX 2060 SUPER AMP EXTREME

RAM: 16GB 1600MHZ

MOBO: MSI H81M-E33

CASE: COOLER MASTER N300

PSU: THERMALTAKE 600 WATT

STORAGE: TOTAL 6.5TB, 512GB SAMSUNG 850 PRO BOOT DRIVE, 2TB HDD 1, 2TB HDD 2, 2TB WESTERN DIGITAL USB 3.0 BACKUP DRIVE

- CRACK!

Sony Vegas heavily favours AMD GPUs as it uses openCL for its accelerated rendering. Although its important to understand openCL is only currently used to render out effects, the encoding is all CPU driven and it dominates the time to render out video and I have found almost no benefit getting openCL working on a Fury or a pair of a 970s. I don't know why your Nvidia card isn't getting picked up because it worked for me when I trialed the software earlier this year, do you have the latest version?

Wat. nVidia IS CUDA. AMD doesn't do CUDA as that's an nVidia technology.

Maybe your rendering software doesn't support CUDA or you didn't set it up correctly, try to change some settings, nVidia cards should work even with OpenCL or OpenACC.

All the new nVidia micro architectures support CUDA, Maxwell in particular supports Compute Capability 5.2.

They never stopped to "do CUDA", in fact the toolkit 8.0 should be released soon.
