HELP GPU not showing up in afterburner

HELP, my graphics card is not showing up in MSI Afterburner, I have all the latest drivers installed for everything too. (i restarted after installing )

 

please help, thanks in advance.

 

I have a MSI GTX 970 gaming edition.

reinstall afterburner

reinstall drivers and uninstall drivers using DDU

or just dont oc you gpu:P

Reinstall Afterburner and make sure you are downloading the latest version! Then uninstall all Nvidia drivers using DDU, reinstall with latest version from Nvidia's website. If this still does not have an effect then make sure your MB BIOS are all up to date and set to "optimised defaults". Another option is to see if any other OC programs are able to detect the GPU, Gigabyte have one and EVGA do!! Also try GPU-Z and see if that has any information missing or doesn't detect it as well. Sometimes you can get GPU's that have issues like this and are just not detected! In this case try an RMA! But it is 99% likely its drivers and BIOS's that are just not up to date or just dont seem to be co operating!

I had the same problem with my GTX980ti. I could play games but programs could not find it. Just DDU and go to the driver version before it. Solved everything for me

If this still does not have an effect then make sure your MB BIOS are all up to date and set to "optimised defaults". Another option is to see if any other OC programs are able to detect the GPU, Gigabyte have one and EVGA do!! Also try GPU-Z and see if that has any information missing or doesn't detect it as well. Sometimes you can get GPU's that have issues like this and are just not detected! In this case try an RMA! But it is 99% likely its drivers and BIOS's that are just not up to date or just dont seem to be co operating!

I'm having the exact same problem. I uninstalled display driver with DDU and reinstalled it, also reinstalled MSI afterburner, tried latest beta version. Nothing seem to work. MSI afterburner won't detect the GPU and driver version and so it won't let me do anything. (see screenshot, all the sliders are blurred out and I can't change their position)

Same. mine looks exactly the same, and I also uninstalled my display with ddu and reinstalled it, as well as msi afterburner, used beta, insured latest bios version number, etc. It recognizes only the ram usage, framerate, and pagefile usage.

EDIT: I use an msi computer with an nvidia gtx graphics card, although that seems not to be a problem for others...

Hey everyone.. I know that this Forum is quite old. But I think I had the same problem. However, I resolved it without having to reinstall the drivers. If you have AMD Radeon Software Version 20.4.1 released 4/7/2020, then it might be a little different for you without having to go through the install, remove, and reinstall driver humbug. One thing to look for is if your GPU's Crossfire is enabled. I have an X99A gaming 7 MOBO with dual MSi Air Boost VEGA 56 8GB and Win 10 64x. Please note that I run GPU's individually to render animations using Blender 2.82. It's pretty quick to check, so hopefully if anyone else stumbles on this forum asking the same question as we all have. Here was my fix:

 

(AGAIN THIS IS FOR THOSE THAT RUN GPU's INDIVIDUALLY WITHOUT CROSSFIRE)

 

1. Right click in an open space on your Desktop 

2. Select (with left click) AMD Radeon Software

3. On the top right screen, Select the Gear Icon (Settings)

4. Under the "Home" Tab, select the "Graphics" Tab

5. On the bottom left, click Advanced

6. Just under that arrow, The first option labeled "AMD CrossFire" click DISABLE. 

7. CHECK TO SEE IF MSi Afterburner now shows both GPU's with data. 

 

ALSO,

PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF ANY OF YOU KNOW OF A WAY (WITHOUT DEGRADING RESOLUTION OR DISABLING "DENOISE") TO SPEED UP RENDERING. 

 

I'm currently using Blender 2.8 (USER Preferences: Both GPU's enabled and CPU enabled) with GPU Render selected in the render settings. (I would think that it would only usse the GPU with that selected... but nope.. it renders using everything).

If you're using NVidia Cards, try disabling SLI
