Budget & Location

Looking to spend under CAD 800$ on the pc itself (900$ would be fine too). Im prepared to spend well over 1000$ for a monitor keyboard etc.

Aim

I'd like this build to be dedicated to gaming and only gaming I have a decent laptop I can do school work on. I play Gary's Mod and CS:GO nothing else that graphic intensive, I play a lot of other lower graphic intensive games but I'd like to be able to play Gary's Mod and CS:GO at higher settings. I don't need much storage space 1TB should be fine I don't have many games anyway.

Monitors

I only plan on running 1 monitor at 1080p HD.

Peripherals

I'll need the whole works since this is my first gaming PC, A mouse, a monitor, a keyboard, Maybe some fancy LED ones :). And Windows 10. I'd also prefer new parts

Why are you upgrading?

I'm building this PC to start gaming. Later on I'll upgrade to a bigger and better one once I know what I'm doing and can afford it, Il be keeping this one for a couple of years.

If you know any build's that would fit the criteria please reply. Mouse monitor and keyboard suggestions are greatly appreciated as well,

Thanks :)

Best I could do for 1100 Canadian Rupees.

Obvious upgrades:

1. Boot SSD

2. a 2nd 970 in SLI (or 390, whatever your preference is there is negligible difference between them regardless of what folk on here say)

3. i3>i5k series allowing overclocking (with a better CPU cooler)

4. Another 2x4gb ram sticks taking you to 16gb. 8 should be more than enough.

5. Nice peripherals :D.

PC:

Monolith(Laptop): CPU: i7 5700HQ GPU: GTX 980M 8GB RAM: 2x8GB 1600MHz Storage: 2x128GB Samsung 850 EVO(Raid 0) + 1TB HGST 7200RPM Model: Gigabyte P35XV4 Mouse: Razer Orochi Headset: Turtle Beach Stealth 450

Thanks! Looks good I've still got a little more saving to do, this build seems the best for its price.

It's a pretty good build, but it already includes a monitor and keyboard and mouse.

I'd recommend going for 1x8GB RAM. I'm not entirely sold on dual channel being that much better that you should give up installing more RAM later on cheaply...

If you want to beat the price down, you can just not buy a hard drive first and get that later (or not buy an ssd, but that'd involve switching your boot device later on). The mouse and keyboard are probably, well, bad. I haven't tried those but they are very cheap ;)

I wouldn't buy the monitor keyboard and mouse. Gonna build the PC first. If I did switch out the 2x4GB RAM Would I be able to put in 2x8GB RAM? If that works I'd leave the price as it is without the monitor and keyboard mouse combo, Once I get it working I don't really wat to mess with it much.

That would work no problem. It'd be more expensive, of course, but 2 8GB RAM-sticks are no problem for any slightly modern system.

I really like this one just not the case, Is there any other cases this exact build would work with, I like the side panel cases (Sorry I didn't mention that in the post) I'd also just pay the extra 50$ at the beginning and put in the i5. Any idea what kind of cooler i'd need to cool that? And I'd defiantly upgrade to another 2x4GB RAM kit.

Grab the display after the PC naturally, builds under 900 with an i5 + 380

the display is a 1080p 144hz TN free-sync display, so great for CS:GO and doom should you go that route.

Yeah I mean an i5 is a real sweet spot price wise so would be a worthwhile upgrade. The i3 6100 is still a fantastic budget option that will be capable for most games. Cases, to be honest I just put that in as a price placeholder. A case is something that only you can decide. Any ATX compatible case will fit.

BTW, at that price point you might actually get somewhat better performance with an AMD CPU, but:
1. I don't know much at all about those, so I can't really recommend much and

2. Going with a Skylake Intel chip will give you a pretty good upgrade path without also changing the motherboard.

Could I swap these out? http://pcpartpicker.com/part/kingston-memory-hx421c14fbk216  for http://pcpartpicker.com/part/kingston-memory-hx421c14fbk28 If so I would use this build.

Absolutely, yes. As long as it is DDR4, it'll fit. Basically, all DDR4 will fit all motherboards that accept DDR4. At least I'm not aware of any limitations.

Should be fine. If you want a bit of breathing room, a slightly higher wattage PSU might be a good idea (although shy of adding another GPU there shouldn't be any issues).

It's just significantly above your budget ;)

That's a US build, it's 1300 CAD unless the CAD thing in the OP was a mistype
