The Story:

Bought an Asus MX279H about 2 years ago. Around 3 months ago is starting going funny; the screen would go blank but the LED indicated that it was still powered and 'on'. To sort this I had to unplug the power, leave for 5 seconds and plug back in.

As time went on I had to leave it unplugged for longer and longer before it worked again. The OSD buttons went at this point too. Now it just doesn't turn on at all!

I got in touch with Asus UK but they said the monitor was bought in Germany (I bought from Amazon UK Marketplace) and to speak to Asus Germany. Asus Germany were happy to replace it, if I had a pick up address in Germany; which I don't.

Originally Asus UK said it sounds like a power issue. I bought a 3rd party power lead and transformer thingy, hasn't resolved the issue.

I've opened it up and nothing looks dodgy; PCBs all seem in tact etc

Anyone out there got any ideas? :(

Erhm, your saying that Asus UK wont fix your problem because theyr saying you got it from a warehouse in Germany but from Amazon.co.uk!? Holy heck, sue those Asus UK bastards. Its nice that Asus in Germany would be willing to help, but with the money youd spend to travel to Germany to replace the display Lol, it would cheaper to just get a new display. Anyways i dont know how to fix anything related to components inside a display, but the only problem ive had with my MX239H was that it got screen paleness, and i sent to the local store at which i bought it and i got it replaced in 1 week, because Asus is quite speedy at replacing theyr parts. Would you be willing to try taking it to an actual technical store and pay for a potential fix? Im sure theyr not gonna charge the price of a full display and your basically working with a faulty warranty, which is totally useless. Selling it on Ebay and claiming it could be fixed, would probably take a long time to ever get interest.
